[ACCESS TO SOFTWARE, DATA & STORAGE]

To access selected cloud-based software tools (rVDI infrastructure) and some additional storage for data analysis (PROJECTS FOLDER),
use the "Network Drive – Access request" form in HEAT to request read and write access to the "U:\Research\Projects\ife\carf_proteo" folder
(The HEAT system will automatically link this request to software access request).

To access backed up instrument data (BACKUP FOLDER),
use the "Network Drive – Access request" form in HEAT to request read only access to the "U:\Research\Acquisitions\ife\carf_proteo" folder

Apply for access to both above folders putting 'Pawel' as approver in each case.

Once your access has been granted, you will be able to:
1/. Use software tools installed on rVDI INFRASTRUCTURE by browsing to http://rvdi.qut.edu.au
2/. Read raw data from BACKUP FOLDER (previously called IHBI drive) by browsing to U:\Research\Acquisitions\ife\carf_proteo
3/. Write processed data to PROJECTS FOLDER (previously called PROTEO drive) by browsing to U:\Research\Projects\ife\carf_proteo

NOTE:
When conducting data analysis in Skyline, your Skyline template needs to be located in PROJECTS FOLDER, but you can import into it data from BACKUP FOLDER. Importing data into Skyline template located in BACKUP FOLDER will result in file permission error. Similar is true with any other software tool that modifies the files or creates temporary files upon opening data. For example, you can open a datafile in LabSolutions from BACKUP FOLDER, but it needs to be saved to PROJECTS FOLDER to change the information that is displayed and save it.

[VPN-ING TO QUT NETWORK]

If you are outside QUT, you will need to VPN to QUT network to access QUT resources. To achieve this, download Cisco AnyConnect Client, install it on your computer, launch it, type 'remote.qut.edu.au' in Cisco window, press connect and then type in your QUT credentials when prompted for it.

NOTE:
Users with VISITOR access must additionally use the "VPN profile access" form in HEAT to enable their remote access to QUT resources.

[MAC USERS]

If you are using MAC computer download Microsoft Remote Desktop software from the App Store, then click on the data analysis computer of your choice (listed under [SOFTWARE]) to download an .RDP file which your MAC computer will likely download as .txt file. Access that file from the Downloads folder on your MAC computer and remove .txt extension ensuring the file ends in .RDP extension. Then drag the .RDP file into the remote desktop. This should create a virtual desktop image. Hover the mouse pointer over the desktop image and select the pencil icon. Open the "User account" drop down menu and change to "ask when required". Keep everything else the same. Click "Save" and then double click on the virtual desktop image. Provide password when prompted. When prompted about certificate click "Continue". To make things look better when the desktop is open, select "Window" from the toolbar and select "Fit to window".

[FILES GOING OFF-LINE]

If you notice an 'X' symbol on an icon of any of your files stored on network location this means they went off-line. To bring them back on-line, log relevant request in HEAT (search for: "Bulk recall of Research Data Storage Service files").
